Senior Data Engineer

Salary: £70,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in IT, Systems, Sciences or Maths
• 5 years experience across BI, data warehousing, data management and ETL
• Strong experience delivering data solutions in BI warehouses and/or data lakes, on-prem and cloud
• Hands-on experience with Big Data tools, data ingestion and streaming
• Experience working with data lakes and visualisation, including semantic modelling
• Strong understanding of data architecture
• Confident stakeholder engagement and cross-team collaboration
• Passion for sharing knowledge and supporting team development

Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of building scalable data pipelines while working independently and collaborating across the business
• Work closely with our Data Engineering team to deliver reliable, high-quality data that powers strong data flows and predictive models
• Use a range of languages and tools to build and manage robust data pipelines across multiple systems
• Contribute to key decisions that drive a strong, outcome-focused SWAT approach
• Explore new opportunities to bring in data and unlock more value from what we already have
• Collaborate with Data Science, Analytics, Architecture and wider tech teams to design, build, test and maintain scalable data environments
• Understand GDPR principles and raise concerns where needed
• Support and mentor fellow Data Engineers to help the team grow
• Listen actively to technical and business needs, and communicate complex ideas in a clear, accessible way
• Spot potential challenges early and proactively shape solutions that build trust and deliver great outcomes
