Job Description

Salary: £36,000 - 67,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Proven experience supporting secure, highly available managed services within regulated or classified environments.
  • Working knowledge of networking, infrastructure, security, virtualisation, and environmental systems within secure operational estates.
  • Ability to collaborate across virtual and on-site teams, BT business units, third-party suppliers and contractors, and customer and user authorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work strictly in accordance with SYOPS, processes, procedures, and local work instructions.

  • Awareness of business strategy and organisational performance drivers, including people performance and financial literacy (desirable).
  • Experience working in secure Network Operations Centres (NOCs) (desirable).
  • Familiarity with incident, problem, and change processes in managed service environments (desirable).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance, as required for this sensitive role.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage, operate, and assure a large, complex, highly secure managed service supporting critical UK national infrastructure and HM Government Defence operations.
  • Take responsibility during shifts for service resilience, security assurance, and operational stability.
  • Carry out first- and second-line operational activities for the managed service while on shift.
  • Follow platform and building SYOPS, processes, procedures, local work instructions, and authorised BT or customer-directed activities.
  • Maintain awareness of operational priorities, security posture, and live service risks throughout each shift.
  • Help keep networking and routing, security and boundary, IT, server, virtualisation and infrastructure, voice and VoIP, and environmental systems operational and ready.
  • Support regular service testing, exercises, and capability development as directed by the Operational Service Manager.
  • Identify and escalate incidents and service degradation, and support their resolution in line with operational procedures.
  • Help achieve and maintain government and Ministry of Defence security assurance and accreditation for the managed service.
