Staff Site Reliability Engineer

Salary: £43,000 - 83,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for a recognised specialist who leads through expertise, with principal-level individual contributor depth and the judgement to set standards others follow.
• We need deep experience designing and tuning multi-tenant ClickHouse at extreme scale, including working with the engine at source level and ideally contributing code upstream.
• We value true SRE discipline for data platforms, including SLOs, observability, capacity planning and incident response for analytical data systems and pipelines.
• We are looking for experience productising data as a secure, multi-tenant, immutable release with discoverability at scale.
• We need understanding of how to expose platform data to agents safely and at scale, including access patterns, tenant isolation and guardrails.
• We require strong multi-tenant security design experience, including isolation, least-privilege access and secrets management.
• We are looking for technical leadership experience, including mentoring engineers and line-managing a small team while staying hands-on.

Responsibilities:

• We will rely on you to architect, tune and operate multi-tenant ClickHouse or equivalent OLAP database clusters at multi-trillion-row, petabyte scale.
• You will own SLOs, observability, capacity planning and incident response for data-intensive systems and pipelines, as well as the orchestration and job execution that support them.
• You will shape Data-as-a-Service as a product, including secure multi-tenant immutable releases and catalogue and ontology-driven discoverability.
• You will power agentic AI from the data platform by scaling the data foundations behind MystraAI and owning secure, tenant-scoped access for agents.
• You will treat security as a first-class architectural concern, including tenant isolation, secrets and credential management, and least-privilege access to systems, tools and data.
• You will set technical direction, mentor and line-manage a small team of IC2/IC3 engineers, and influence decisions beyond your immediate team.
