Job Description
Salary: £49,000 - 89,000 per year
Requirements:- We require 5+ years of hands-on experience in operational and lifecycle management within a large Internet Service Provider or equivalent network, specifically across DNS, IPAM, DHCP, RADIUS (AAA), and LDAP.
- We need strong knowledge of DNS security, DNSSEC, DDoS mitigation, caching architectures, and resolver performance tuning.
- We require deep understanding of RADIUS Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA), including RADIUS attributes.
- We need experience in Linux system administration and strong scripting skills in Bash and Python for automation, tooling, and diagnostics.
- We require strong expertise in network monitoring platforms and fault diagnostic methodologies, with proven analytical capability to resolve complex issues in service-critical environments.
- We value the ability to think critically, ask difficult questions, and consider the broader implications while managing detailed work.
- We need a high degree of flexibility and the ability to manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
- A university degree in engineering, telecommunications, computer science, or a related technology field is preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
- Hands-on experience with BIND, Unbound, PowerDNS, Akamai, Infoblox, Radiator, or equivalent is desired.
- Passion for new technologies and developments in the telecom industry is desired.
- We operationally maintain DNS and RADIUS solutions based on FreeRADIUS, 389 LDAP Directory replication, AnswerX, Unbound, CacheServe, BIND, and other vendor platforms.
- We lead complex and major incidents, driving proactive operational improvements through post-incident reviews and root cause analysis.
- We apply structured testing methodologies to validate new features, upgrades, and deployments in production and live environments.
- We identify and deliver automation opportunities for operational and lifecycle management using scripting, applications, or in-house tools.
- We act as technical lead for new projects and demands impacting DNS or RADIUS, reviewing Low-Level Designs, High-Level Designs, and operational guides to ensure alignment with operations.
- We collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless improvements and network growth.
- We support development and knowledge transfer opportunities within the team and with international peers.
- We participate in a 24x7 on-call rota to provide support outside business hours.
- We serve as the lead technical engineering authority for DNS and RADIUS operations in a 3rd line networks team.
- We lead critical, major, and complex technical incidents, driving resolution and service restoration.
- We lead post-incident review root cause analysis.
- We attend operational vendor management reviews and stakeholder updates.
- We lead best practices and processes for owned platforms.
- We review new bids or projects that impact DNS or RADIUS.
- We drive SLA, KPI, and performance reliability objectives across DNS and AAA estates.
