Linux System Administrator (SUSE)

Salary: £97,500 - 97,500 per year

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with SUSE Manager / SUSE Multi-Linux Manager (SMLM)
• Linux systems administration experience, ideally with SUSE, Red Hat, or similar platforms
• Experience with SaltStack and configuration management
• Experience with Linux patching, lifecycle management, and automation
• Experience working in virtualised server environments
• Experience supporting technologies such as Docker, Oracle, MySQL, or MariaDB
• Ability to hold or secure NPPV3-level clearance

Responsibilities:

• Implement SUSE Multi-Linux Manager (SMLM) in a complex enterprise environment
• Lead the rollout of SMLM across hundreds of Linux virtual machines
• Help automate patching and improve configuration management
• Reduce manual administration overhead
• Work as part of a team modernising the infrastructure estate
• Support a non-greenfield environment with existing SaltStack and automation tooling

We are partnering with a public sector organisation on a transformation programme to modernise legacy environments across four key workstreams. This is a 12-month contract role, inside IR35 and umbrella only, based in Glasgow with a primarily remote working arrangement. The wider programme is expected to run for 2 to 3 years with contracts split into 12-month increments.
