Requirements:
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience deploying and troubleshooting production Kubernetes environments, including building and operating containerised solutions.
  • Proven experience with DevOps practices and a strong understanding of the cloud-native technology landscape.
  • Experience supporting enterprise customers directly, including working in customer sites and production environments and communicating technical progress clearly.
  • In-depth experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting Kubernetes; proficiency with at least one platform such as OpenShift, Rancher, or Mirantis, and familiarity with other container orchestration platforms.
  • Linux system administration experience with RHEL, SLES, Debian, or Ubuntu.
  • Networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing.
  • Knowledge of software-defined storage concepts such as NFS, block storage, and iSCSI, and of open-source databases and modern data platforms for highly available business applications.
  • CI/CD experience with tools such as Jenkins, GitOps, Argo, or Airflow, and experience with configuration management or Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
  • Working knowledge of cloud IaaS environments such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and object storage management in cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Must already be based in the UK and eligible to work there; willingness to travel to customer sites across EMEA and our offices as needed, potentially 30% or more.
  • Desirable: CKA and/or CKAD certification, or equivalent hands-on experience; scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Ruby; experience with KVM or VMware and Git or SVN; familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK; security fundamentals including SSL/TLS, Kubernetes Secrets, and RBAC; experience with the OpenStorage SDK and REST or gRPC interfaces; experience with high-availability deployments for scale-out databases and data-processing solutions; and cloud or Portworx-related certifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and troubleshooting discipline in complex, high-pressure environments; comfortable consulting at customer sites; clear communication with technical and business stakeholders; adaptable, proactive, and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Portworx Delivery and Solution Architects on design and architecture workshops, gather customer technical requirements, document existing environments, and identify integration points with Kubernetes, storage, and backup solutions.
  • Help document design decisions covering storage and backup workflows, high availability, disaster recovery, scalability, networking, and security; translate customer needs into actionable implementation plans.
  • Design, install, configure, and maintain Kubernetes clusters and Portworx-based solutions using best practices, manifests, and Helm charts.
  • Deploy and operate Portworx Enterprise, PX-Backup, and PX-DR across customer Kubernetes environments, on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Configure Portworx with underlying storage platforms and optimize solutions for performance, scale, and reliability.
  • Lead API and microservices deployment and day-2 operations, including monitoring and alerting practices.
  • Support relevant CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code workflows.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for Portworx break/fix support cases and enhancement requests within the account or region.
  • Work with Portworx Support and Product Engineering to deliver a strong customer experience and resolve issues promptly.
  • Support customer validation and testing of changes before production implementation and remediate issues found during testing.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and training to customer teams, and maintain clear communication with customer stakeholders and our delivery team about project status, risks, and outcomes.
  • Follow our Advanced Services delivery methodology and support Delivery and Solution Architects and Project Managers throughout engagements.
  • Coordinate delivery with Certified Delivery Partners, customers, and vendors, and contribute field experience to reusable procedures, runbooks, and templates.
