Job Description

Salary: £65,000 - 105,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Proficiency in most of the following, with willingness to learn the others: Java, Spring or Spring Boot, a JavaScript or TypeScript tool such as React or Angular, and SQL.
  • Experience with build tools, Git, and continuous integration tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
  • Experience supporting and mentoring team members, sharing knowledge, and helping colleagues build their skills.
  • Experience with alerting, monitoring, and logging tools such as New Relic, OpenSearch or Kibana, and Coralogix.
  • Experience with a modern IDE such as IntelliJ or VS Code, including use of refactoring tools.
  • Experience with test-driven development and mocking libraries such as Jest or Mockito.
  • Experience creating and updating technical documentation using collaborative tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Practical experience with Agile methods and delivery, including Scrum or Kanban.
  • Familiarity with designing and developing for cloud environments, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS.
  • Interest in learning about or experience with AI-based solutions.
  • Some exposure to DevOps tools such as Terraform.
  • A collaborative approach, openness to improving team practices, eagerness to learn and grow, and commitment to industry best practices and standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and deploy applications in a cloud-hosted distributed system for our next-generation product.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify requirements and gather feedback in a fast-moving environment.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions that support system stability and performance.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to continually improve our delivery process.
  • Partner with cross-functional Agile and DevOps implementation teams.
  • Build capabilities that support scientific researchers through the process of submitting research for publication.
