Job Description

Salary: £58,000 - 98,000 per year

Requirements:
  • NATO Secret security clearance level.
  • At least 3 years experience applying data science tools to support advanced data analytics, machine learning, and data visualisation.
  • An advanced degree in data science, data analytics, or a closely related field, plus 2 years of function-related experience; or higher secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in the discipline leading to a professional qualification or accreditation, plus 4 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering data integration using AI and/or machine learning tools, such as Databricks, Watson, Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit, or TensorFlow.
  • Demonstrable experience designing mathematical and statistical models to address business challenges.
  • Demonstrable experience applying data science, analytics, and data integration tools or programming languages to real-world datasets, such as Python, R, KNIME, Splunk, or geospatial data.
  • Desirable: An industry-recognised qualification or accreditation in a relevant field.
  • Desirable: Experience with big data ecosystems such as Hadoop, Spark, and/or MapReduce.
  • Desirable: Experience working in NATO or a similar multinational defence or security sector.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver technical solutions to integrate complex data and enable data-driven decisions.
  • Deliver data integration projects, contributing to our efforts to standardise technical practices and strengthen technical capability in project management, data engineering, and data science.
  • Build, test, and deploy technical solutions based on defined problems and opportunities and understood business requirements.
  • Apply complex algorithms, data science workflows, data modelling, and AI to solve business problems and deepen maritime situational awareness.
  • Develop and adopt data engineering methods for the collection, storage, processing, pipeline management, and governance of data.
  • Develop and adopt architecture, policies, procedures, guidelines, and ways of working that strengthen data integration maturity and enable continuous improvement.

We are Headquarters Allied Maritime Command (HQ MARCOM), NATOs central command for maritime forces, responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing naval operations and advising NATO leadership on maritime matters. We are pursuing initiatives to improve maritime situational awareness and operational decision-making. This is a full-time, fixed-term role for three years, based in Northwood, Middlesex, UK, with a basic monthly salary of 6204.99 (tax free).
