Data Security Architect & Engineer - Manager

Salary: £95,000 - 130,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are seeking experienced Data Security professionals with expertise in both architecture and engineering.
• We are more interested in real-world professional experience and your ability to turn it into impactful client outcomes than in a bachelors degree, though a degree in Computer Science or Engineering is desirable.
• You should be familiar with a majority of the following: building strong client relationships; strong interpersonal and relationship skills; broad data security experience across data discovery, data classification, DLP, data security posture management, encryption, data masking, data governance, and data privacy.
• You should have demonstrable ability to build data security strategies that integrate into client enterprise architectures.
• You should have experience developing architecture and hands-on engineering for data security solutions across several areas, including DLP across email, O365, cloud, web, and endpoint channels.
• You should have experience with data classification and data discovery.
• You should have experience with Digital Rights Management.
• You should have data security experience across Azure, AWS, Oracle, and Google Cloud, using third-party DLP tools and/or native cloud capabilities.
• You should have experience with encryption technologies such as KeyFactor, HashiCorp Vault, AWS KMS, and Azure Key Vault.
• You should have experience with Data Security Posture Management and Data Governance tools such as Microsoft, Varonis, and BigID.
• You should understand data privacy regulations, data governance frameworks, and emerging trends in data security.
• Exposure to or understanding of DevOps tools and repositories such as Git, Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, and Ansible is desirable.
• Practical experience with Linux and Windows operating systems is required.
• Experience with modern data security concepts such as data-centric security, zero trust data access, data access governance design, and cloud-native data protection is expected.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CIPP/E, or Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals are desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Define data security use cases, functional and non-functional solution requirements, and technical specifications.
• Define next-generation use cases covering data security posture management and AI use cases.
• Design and architect data security solutions by creating high-level and low-level designs aligned with business objectives and cybersecurity standards such as NIST and ISO 27001.
• Create high-level and low-level system architecture diagrams with technical descriptions of each component.
• Define dependencies required to implement the solution, including network rules, server resources, and storage requirements.
• Define system specifications to support optimal performance.
• Integrate workflows with third-party systems and security tools, including SIEM solutions, data discovery and classification tools, and cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
• Define the RACI matrix to operate and maintain the solutions infrastructure components.
• Develop technical documentation for data security implementations, including process documentation for data classification, data access requests, data governance, approval workflows, and data lifecycle management.
• Install components in on-premises and cloud environments and configure cloud-based elements, including scripting or coding plug-ins and extensions for cloud platforms.
• Install and configure servers for data discovery and deploy agents for DLP scanning across endpoints and network devices.
• Integrate data security solutions with enterprise applications and systems such as directories, cloud applications, and third-party data repositories.
• Configure and implement API integrations and reverse proxy architectures with cloud services to enable secure data flows.
• Implement, fine-tune, and manage DLP policies to address business requirements and minimise false positives.
• Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to ensure prerequisites and dependencies are addressed prior to deployment.
• Execute unit, integration, functional, and non-functional testing for data security solutions.
• Troubleshoot issues such as data access failures, policy conflicts, and data protection errors in coordination with vendors.
• Provide post-implementation services, including hyper-care support and advanced troubleshooting to resolve production issues and ensure smooth operation.
• Conduct knowledge transfer to client data security teams through technical training sessions.
• Contribute to the development of data security solution approaches for client proposals and bids.
