Senior IT Engineer - Liverpool

Salary: £30,000 - 40,000 per year

Requirements:

• Minimum 4 years hands-on experience in a senior IT support or systems engineer role within education.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve server failures independently, including OS, hardware, RAID, and virtualisation.
• Strong Active Directory and Group Policy experience, including real-world deployment and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on cyber security experience, including incident response, endpoint protection, web filtering, and Cyber Essentials.
• Confident with Microsoft 365 administration across the full suite.
• Solid networking knowledge, including VLANs, managed switches, wireless, firewalls, and routing.
• Experience with MDM platforms such as Mosyle, Jamf, Intune, or equivalent.
• Able to work completely independently and resolve complex technical problems without supervision.
• Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and calmly to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Work part time, three days a week, supporting educational sector clients across Liverpool and Merseyside.
• Provide IT support and systems engineering across schools, academies, universities, and colleges.
• Diagnose and resolve server, infrastructure, networking, and security issues.
• Administer and support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Group Policy, and MDM platforms.
• Handle cyber security tasks such as incident response, endpoint protection, web filtering, and Cyber Essentials support.
• Support Apple devices and Google-related environments where required.
• Communicate technical issues clearly and professionally with school leadership and other stakeholders.
• Travel to client sites as needed using your own vehicle.

We are an IT firm looking for a part-time IT Engineer (Support) to join us for three days a week, working on site across Liverpool and Merseyside. Our work focuses on the educational sector, supporting primary schools, secondary schools, academies, universities, and colleges. The role offers a pro rata salary of £30,000 to £40,000 based on a full-time equivalent, and we require someone who can work independently and travel between client sites. We work with server, infrastructure, networking, cyber security, M365, helpdesk, Apple devices, and Google environments.
