Cloud DevOps Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £38,000 - 78,000 per year
Requirements:- We need expert-level understanding of AWS core services, specifically Fargate, Lambda, S3, IAM, and networking.
- We need proficiency in Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
- We need familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation.
- We need understanding of containerization with Docker and orchestration with ECS or EKS.
- We need strong systems thinking skills to manage complex interdependencies in a cloud-native environment.
- We need a security-first mindset in architectural and configuration decisions.
- We need strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve infrastructure bottlenecks or outages quickly.
- We need the ability to communicate technical architectural requirements to non-technical stakeholders.
- We need at least 3 years of experience in DevOps or Cloud Engineering roles.
- We prefer AWS Professional or Associate-level certification, such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
- We need experience working in a production environment managing high-traffic web or enterprise applications.
- We are responsible for the administration, security, and scalability of our AWS environment.
- We build and maintain infrastructure pipelines and automate deployments.
- We ensure our cloud architecture remains cost-effective, performant, and secure.
- We proactively manage and scale our AWS footprint to ensure high availability for critical hotel-facing applications.
- We maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks such as CloudWatch and X-Ray to meet uptime targets.
- We manage the lifecycle of AWS resources including Fargate, Lambda, RDS, and VPC using Infrastructure as Code.
- We design and optimize end-to-end CI/CD pipelines for rapid, reliable, and error-free deployments.
- We automate routine operational tasks and manual infrastructure provisioning to improve development velocity and reduce MTTR.
- We enforce security-by-design principles including IAM least-privilege access, network security groups, and encryption at rest.
- We perform regular vulnerability scanning and manage automated patching cycles.
- We provide technical onboarding and standards guidance for partner teams.
- We continuously audit cloud usage and optimize costs using tools such as AWS Cost Explorer and Compute Optimizer.
- We implement auto-scaling strategies and right-sizing policies to align costs with business demand.
- We act as the technical bridge between architecture and development.
- We provide clear documentation for infrastructure standards.
- We participate in incident response and provide technical root cause analysis for infrastructure-related outages.
