Fortinet Network Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - 55,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Fortinet Network Security Engineer or in a similar network security role.
• Strong hands-on experience with FortiGate firewalls and FortiAnalyzer in production environments.
• Excellent understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, NAT, IDS/IPS, and network security principles.
• Experience deploying SD-WAN and managing multi-site network environments.
• Ability to design and deliver network infrastructure projects from start to finish.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across both network and security technologies.
• Experience with physical infrastructure as well as cloud networking.
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Intune, and MDM technologies would be beneficial.
• Experience with Proxmox, Azure, or AWS would be advantageous.
• Previous experience within an MSP or multi-client environment is desirable.
• Current SC clearance or eligibility for SC clearance.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK as required.

Responsibilities:

• We design, deploy, configure, and support FortiGate firewalls across complex customer environments.
• We implement and maintain firewall policies, security profiles, VPNs, SD-WAN, and high availability solutions.
• We manage and support the wider Fortinet ecosystem, including FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, FortiClient EMS, and FortiSwitch/FortiAP where required.
• We perform firewall reviews, optimisation, and security hardening following best practice.
• We monitor security events, investigate incidents, and support root cause analysis.
• We produce and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and change records.
• We support compliance initiatives including ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, and GDPR.
• We lead technical delivery on customer sites and provide guidance throughout project lifecycles.
• We collaborate with internal teams and customers to improve network resilience, security, and performance.
• We support firmware lifecycle management, patching, and vulnerability remediation.

This is a permanent remote role with UK travel, working alongside highly experienced engineers on enterprise-grade Fortinet environments. You will own solutions from design through to delivery, influence technical decisions, and support continuous improvement while working on a mix of remote and customer-site projects.
