Technical Assurance Lead

Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require active SC clearance.
• We require sole UK nationality; dual nationality cannot be accepted.
• We require demonstrable technical assurance experience within Defence or CNI.
• We require experience developing assurance strategies and plans.
• We require experience leading assurance across complex programmes.
• We require strong technical writing skills.
• We require the ability to work 2 days per week on-site in Reading.
• We are looking for an experienced Technical Assurance Lead, Technical Architect, Solution Architect, Security Architect or similar professional with a background in defence or high-assurance environments.
• Experience within Defence or Critical National Infrastructure is ideal.
• Experience reviewing and assuring technical capabilities is ideal.
• Strong stakeholder management and client-facing skills are ideal.
• Experience working across digital, technical and/or security domains is ideal.
• A strategic approach to technical assurance and governance is ideal.
• Experience with Authorisation to Operate, defence networks, cyber security, security architecture, technical architecture, solution architecture, secure/high-assurance environments, technical policies and standards, or complex international programmes is desirable.

Responsibilities:

• We will have you develop and mature our Digital Assurance capability.
• We will have you develop our assurance strategy and assurance plan.
• We will have you lead assurance activity across complex technical capabilities.
• We will have you provide assurance during formal design reviews and test events.
• We will have you review technical capabilities and provide robust professional feedback.
• We will have you establish and maintain our strategic technical baseline.
• We will have you produce high-quality technical assurance documentation.
• We will have you develop technical policies and supporting documentation where required.
• We will have you engage directly with senior client stakeholders.
• We will have you establish and communicate expectations around technical assurance.
• We will have you support activities relating to Authorisation to Operate (ATO).

We are a leading UK Cyber & Digital consultancy recruiting for a permanent Technical Assurance Lead to support a major long-term international defence programme involving the UK, Italy and Japan. This is a significant strategic opportunity within a complex, high-assurance defence environment, based in Reading with 2 days per week on-site. The role offers exposure to senior client stakeholders, complex digital, technical and security environments, and significant influence over our Digital Assurance strategy, with a target start date of October/November 2026.
