Software Engineer II, Security

Salary: £44,000 - 56,000 per year

Requirements:

• 2+ years of work experience as a Security Analyst, Security Engineer, or in a similar role.
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, and/or SQL.
• Proficiency with AWS cloud platforms, particularly security tools such as Security Hub and IAM.
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment, threat modelling, the OWASP Top 10, information security practices, and encryption theory.
• Clear understanding of secure development best practices.
• Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools.
• Proficiency with Linux environments.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in helping grow a business.
• Comfort using data to support and validate concepts.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where contributions have a big impact.
• Ability to quickly diagnose and solve code problems, and help others unblock themselves.
• Passion for sharing knowledge and mentoring teammates.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and trial new security tooling for our SDLC, particularly in the AI space.
• Code solutions to engineering challenges in the security space, primarily using Python and SQL.
• Advocate for and consult with other engineers on security best practices and secure-by-design methodologies.
• Maintain security data products such as SBOM, asset inventory, cloud infrastructure, and SIEM.
• Monitor, log, triage, and escalate cyber security threats, and document security events including IoC (Indicators of compromise).
• Conduct and collate security assessments through a variety of appropriate methods.
• Create reports and work collaboratively with engineering teams to remediate identified issues.
• Provide support and training for teams where needed.
• Contribute to architecture decision-making within our team.
• Help design and deliver key business applications and solutions that are scalable, performant, easy to maintain, and cost-optimised.
