Software Engineer (C++) - eDV Cleared

Salary: £60,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:

• Applicants must hold Enhanced Developed Vetting (DV) Clearance.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.
• At least 18 months of commercial experience developing software in C++.
• Strong experience working in Linux-based development environments.
• Experience debugging software and using tools such as Valgrind or similar.
• An understanding of networking concepts, protocols and packet analysis.
• Knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Bootstrap.
• Experience using Docker for containerisation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
• Experience using Git and modern source control workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an analytical approach.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Passion for producing high-quality, secure and maintainable software.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain high-performance software applications using C++ in Linux environments.
• Produce clean, efficient and maintainable code with a focus on performance, scalability and reliability.
• Use debugging, profiling and static analysis tools to ensure high-quality software and maximise code coverage.
• Investigate and resolve software defects, including issues relating to third-party libraries and dependencies.
• Containerise applications using Docker to support efficient deployment.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, testing and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain high engineering standards.
• Use modern version control and collaboration tools to support efficient software delivery.
• Maintain awareness of evolving technologies and security best practices.
• Occasional travel to customer or company sites may be required.
