Salary: £68,000 - 108,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We bring a long-established background in Trading IT and extensive hands-on expertise with OpenLink Endur.
  • We understand the end-to-end Trading business from deal inception through to settlement.
  • We have extensive experience in software and architecture delivery, and we take ownership of technical architecture, design, and standards for software products in Commodities Trading.
  • We can confidently lead architectural decisions across portfolios, manage divergent opinions, and create pragmatic technical designs that balance risk, complexity, cost, and value.
  • We have TOGAF or a similar framework experience, along with enterprise architecture tooling experience.
  • We have strong communication and collaboration skills, with significant experience in trading environments.
  • We can diagnose problems and implement innovative solutions, while managing dependencies, obstacles, trade-offs, and technical debt.
  • We are expert in one or more programming languages such as Node.js, .Net, .Net Core, or Python, and have cloud native platform development experience on Azure or AWS.
  • We are expert in one or more front-end development technologies, specifically React and micro frontends.
  • We are expert in one or more data development technologies, including SQL databases, NoSQL, and cloud datastores.
  • We are expert in JVS and OpenComponents.
  • We have exposure to SAP HANA, Salesforce, API management, and multifactor authentication.
  • We have hands-on experience implementing OpenLink Endur, including All Managers, Domain Services, Operation Services, TPM, APM, Grid Setup, and Deal Modelling.
  • We have hands-on experience architecting applications on Azure, including migrations and re-platforming of legacy on-premises systems.
  • We have experience designing and building containers, microservices, cloud native applications, and federated data platforms.
  • We have solid experience in data architecture, logical data modelling, and modern data platforms, including medallion-style architecture.
  • We have strong knowledge of data management, including engineering, pipeline development, warehousing, storage, lifecycle management, privacy, and security.
  • We have experience with diverse data types such as big data, high-velocity streaming, IoT, low-latency event triggers, and longitudinal time series.
  • We have proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • We have significant experience with Azure Functions, Web Apps, and distributed or event-driven architecture such as Event Hub, Event Bus, and Kafka.
  • We have intermediate to advanced exposure to Azure Active Directory, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Storage, Azure Kubernetes Service, Cosmos DB, and Azure SQL.
  • We have integration experience with Confluent or Kafka, API Management, and Logic Apps.
  • We have substantial experience in CI/CD delivery using Git, GitHub, VSTS or Azure DevOps, Terraform, and Ansible.
  • We have practical agile experience in both start-up and enterprise environments.
  • We can lead the engineering community to follow Shell Engineer Management standards and support core engineering GPA objectives.
  • We can address business process, data, application, technical, and information security aspects of IT solutions, documenting them in high-level design documents.
  • We can coordinate and develop information with third parties, data architects, IRM, support operations teams, and business stakeholders, both inside and outside the company.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide strong architectural leadership, foster collaboration, drive consensus, and communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
  • Play a key role in shaping and transforming the role by identifying opportunities, driving innovation, and delivering impact beyond the initial remit.
  • Serve as the primary contact for architectural aspects of IT projects.
  • Integrate business process, data, application, technical, and information security dimensions into cohesive IT solutions.
  • Document solution architectures using standard templates and tooling in line with our architectural standards.
  • Guide detailed designers and business analysts during the design phase.
  • Review and formally approve detailed solution designs.
  • Support the Lead Architect and participate in Architecture Review Board sessions as required.
  • Contribute to the documentation, enhancement, and maintenance of Reference Models in BizzDesign or other standard tooling.
  • Elevate project deliverables to conceptual and logical architecture levels.
  • Monitor emerging IT technologies and apply insight to design future-ready solutions.
  • Stay informed of developments in our IT standards and services and incorporate them into solution designs.
  • Champion architectural excellence within the organisation.
  • Engage with stakeholders to address architectural concerns and drive strategic improvements.
