Senior IT Technician

Salary: £37,000 - 42,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on 2nd-line support, with exposure to 3rd-line and infrastructure issues
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Entra ID
• Good networking knowledge including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and Wi-Fi
• Windows desktop experience and ideally Windows Server experience
• Intune, MDM, or other endpoint management experience
• A strong practical understanding of cyber security
• Experience with MFA, Conditional Access, endpoint protection, patching, vulnerability management, backups, and access control
• The ability to recognise potential security issues and take appropriate action
• Confidence to troubleshoot technical problems independently
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain security and IT issues to non-technical colleagues
• Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, ITIL, or cyber security qualifications would be advantageous, but practical experience and technical ability are more important

Responsibilities:

• Provide hands-on 1st, 2nd, and where required 3rd-line IT support
• Take day-to-day ownership of IT issues across the business
• Support and administer Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Entra ID
• Manage users, permissions, MFA, and access controls
• Support Intune/MDM, endpoint management, and device security
• Maintain desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and associated hardware
• Troubleshoot LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, switches, routers, VPNs, DNS, and DHCP
• Support Windows Server and wider IT infrastructure
• Manage security updates, patching, antivirus, and endpoint protection
• Help identify and respond to cyber security risks, vulnerabilities, and incidents
• Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
• Monitor systems and maintain appropriate security controls
• Support starters and leavers and ensure access is appropriately provisioned and removed
• Maintain IT assets, licences, documentation, and security procedures
• Work with third-party technology and security providers where necessary
• Support IT upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure/security projects
• Help promote cyber security awareness and good practice across the organisation
