Senior IT Systems Specialist

Salary: £67,000 - 107,000 per year

Requirements:

• Weve solid hands-on experience running IT in a startup or scaleup, with an IT manager or senior sysadmin background fitting well.
• Around 5-6 years of experience is a good guide, though mindset and problem-solving matter more than the exact number.
• Weve led our side of at least one platform migration, such as identity, security tooling or service management, where we directed vendors and owned the outcome.
• Were confident and hands-on with Google Workspace in a Google-first environment.
• We have an automation-first mindset and a track record of building things that genuinely reduced repetitive work.
• We can explain technical things simply and clearly to non-technical colleagues.
• Were energised by change, shifting priorities and ambiguity.
• We write clear documentation and hold ourselves to a high standard without being prompted.
• Bonus points, but not required, for hands-on experience with modern identity platforms such as Okta, Entra ID or JumpCloud, especially Okta Workflows.
• Bonus points, but not required, for scripting with Python or Bash, or integration and automation platforms like n8n, Zapier or Workato.
• Bonus points, but not required, for exposure to endpoint security or EDR tooling.
• Bonus points, but not required, for understanding of IT security frameworks such as ISO 27001.

Responsibilities:

• Lead our side of vendor-led platform migrations across identity, endpoint security and service management, directing delivery partners, making the technical calls, and landing each cutover cleanly.
• Bring order and momentum to fast-moving programmes, keeping change on track as priorities shift.
• Spot manual bottlenecks across Enterprise Technology and design smarter, automated workflows for user provisioning, licence management, compliance reporting and support triage.
• Build with scripting, no-code or workflow tooling as appropriate, and own solutions end-to-end so they are documented, monitored and understood by the whole team.
• Keep our core systems, including identity, endpoint, SaaS and security tooling, reliable, secure and well-administered as the business grows.
• Bring a security-aware lens to everything we build, with monitoring and error handling that fails visibly, not silently.
• Translate technical detail into plain, useful language for non-technical colleagues and keep people informed throughout the process.
