Lead Software Engineer - Platform

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot or a similar framework
• Experience with build tools such as Maven and Gradle and their role in SDLC standardisation
• Experience building APIs in microservice-oriented architectures and complex distributed systems
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices
• Excellent communication, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to understand engineering team needs, drive change, and influence technical direction
• Passion for standardisation, process improvement, and engineering excellence
• Understanding of controls and compliance in regulated organisations
• Preferred: experience designing libraries used across multiple engineering teams
• Preferred: deep understanding of Spring and Spring Boot internals
• Preferred: experience in financial services, investment platforms, or similar regulated organisations
• Preferred: experience building self-serve tooling for engineering teams
• Preferred: hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend frameworks and libraries using Java and Spring Boot
• Build components that provide out-of-the-box implementations of functional and non-functional requirements
• Collaborate closely with product engineering teams to understand their needs and deliver solutions that improve productivity and engineering experience
• Tackle complex technical challenges, design innovative strategic solutions, and provide guidance to the team
• Work closely with SDLC and Infrastructure teams to enable delivery of Platform as a Product
