Lead Software Engineer - Full Stack (Java/React)
Job Description
Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year
Requirements:- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
- Advanced proficiency in Java and Spring Boot for building enterprise-grade backend services and APIs
- Hands-on experience developing modern front-end applications using React or equivalent frameworks
- Demonstrated experience designing and deploying cloud-native applications on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and RESTful API design
- Experience integrating or working alongside artificial intelligence and machine learning models within production systems
- Proven ability to lead technical delivery across the full software development lifecycle in an agile environment
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and resolve complex technical challenges independently
- Experience working within financial services, risk technology, or regulated technology environments
- Familiarity with wholesale credit risk concepts, instruments, or related financial products
- Exposure to mobile application development or cross-platform frameworks
- Experience with data engineering, real-time data pipelines, or event-driven architectures
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and security-by-design principles in cloud environments
- Architect and deliver robust, scalable full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, and React to support wholesale credit risk workflows
- Lead the design and implementation of cloud-native solutions, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across distributed systems
- Integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities into risk technology platforms to enhance analytical and predictive functions
- Drive end-to-end software development lifecycle activities, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support
- Collaborate with product managers, risk stakeholders, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions
- Champion engineering best practices including code reviews, test-driven development, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation
- Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, proactively addressing performance bottlenecks and system vulnerabilities
- Contribute to the evolution of the teams technology strategy, evaluating emerging tools and frameworks to modernize the platform
