Requirements:

• Proficiency in SQL is essential.
• Experience with data visualization is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Experience in data modelling, metadata management, and data synthesis.
• Proven work experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
• In-depth understanding of database structure principles.
• Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements.
• Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques.

• Problem-solving attitude.

Responsibilities:

• Develop database solutions to store and retrieve company information.
• Install and configure information systems to ensure functionality.
• Analyse, plan, and define the data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, and master data.
• Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions.
• Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts.
• Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new elements.
• Optimize new and current database systems.
• Define security and backup procedures.
• Collaborate with other teams across the organisation to devise and implement data strategies, build models, and assess stakeholder needs and goals.
• Provide operational support for Management Information Systems.

We are a world-class defence organisation recruiting a Data Engineer / Data Architect for an initial 12-month contract in Stevenage. This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week onsite, and a compressed four-day week from Monday to Thursday is also an option. The contract is for 37 hours per week, with overtime paid at time and a quarter for hours worked over 37. The role is inside IR35 and offered on an umbrella basis, with the potential for extension beyond the initial term.
