Job Description

Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Requires specialist skills in 2G/3G/4G/LTE technologies and experience of working in agile software development environments.
  • Highly technical and requires full Cisco CCIE certification with experience working in mission critical programmes.
  • WAN/LAN network design experience with over 10 years experience.
  • Proven technical experience in mobile communications, including requirements gathering, options appraisal, and technical/operational testing.
  • Degree or relevant experience.
  • Ability to project manage high-value, complex implementations.
  • Desirable: ISEB Solution Enterprise Architecture.
  • Desirable: Experience of working within an ambulance service.
  • Desirable: Experience of negotiating with suppliers.
  • Security clearance required.
  • UK residency for at least 5 years required.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide design and implementation guidance, assurance, and support for data centre networks, WAN, and trust integrations.
  • Work daily with suppliers, the ARP team, and trusts to provide and maintain network delivery for ARP technologies.
  • Support WAN/LAN, mobile network operators, and enterprise data centre networks.
  • Work with stakeholders to specify, design, and select control room solutions that deliver the required utility and warranty for end users.
  • Be responsible for technical elements involved in planning, design, options appraisal, testing, and delivery of the end product.
  • Support interfaces to national and local programmes.
  • Investigate and report on the latest 2G, 3G, and 4G device-related technology and act as the technical expert on future technical trends.
  • Carry out assessments on control room and mobile device technologies and associated protocols.
  • Provide clear technical guidance to technical, service, and user communities.
  • Build strong working relationships across service management, technical disciplines, suppliers, users across ambulance trusts, the wider NHS, and other stakeholders.

We are the Ambulance Radio Programme (ARP), an enduring organisation appointed by the Department of Health and Social Care to provide and upgrade emergency communications for UK ambulance services. We have a team of over a hundred staff across the country supporting the delivery and maintenance of a £460m programme of work. We are introducing new technology to ambulance fleets and developing data-rich communications products for frontline paramedic and control room staff. This is a permanent, full-time role based home or remotely, with regular travel to ambulance trusts and suppliers across England.
