Platform Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £39,000 - 79,000 per year
Requirements:- Build readable, maintainable, and testable infrastructure-as-code and platform tooling following our standards, including Terraform, Crossplane, and Helm.
- Apply test-first thinking and write appropriate unit and integration tests for platform tooling and infrastructure changes.
- Demonstrate increasing autonomy and contribute to platform design discussions.
- Use platform metrics and developer feedback to guide decisions and challenge assumptions.
- Consider commercial impacts when proposing or evaluating platform solutions, balancing capability with infrastructure cost.
- Communicate clearly using concise, developer-focused language and contribute to golden path documentation.
- Follow and advocate for secure coding and infrastructure practices, including least-privilege access and supply chain hygiene.
- Participate actively in platform and engineering guilds, workshops, or improvement initiatives.
- Share learning with peers and help onboard engineers onto platform tooling.
- Deliver high-quality, scalable, and well-designed platform services and tooling within a cross-functional team.
- Support iterative, value-led delivery and break platform work into incremental, testable slices.
- Refine and estimate work with growing confidence and accuracy.
- Promote short feedback loops and reduce unnecessary complexity by applying agile principles.
- Contribute to platform design discussions and consider wider infrastructure and cloud-native system considerations.
- Contribute to observability, alerting, and production validation across platform services.
- Participate in defining and improving platform testing strategies, including infrastructure validation.
- Demonstrate a consistent growth mindset, seek feedback, and apply it to improve performance.
- Take ownership of tasks and support peers in delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Create an inclusive, respectful team environment that supports healthy debate.
- Adapt well to setbacks and model constructive behaviour.
