Infrastructure Engineer (Storage/Backup)

Salary: £67,000 - 107,000 per year

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field is preferred
• 0.5–3.5 years of commercial experience
• A keen interest in learning storage technologies and working in an infrastructure support role
• Experience with UNIX (Linux, AIX, Solaris), VMware or other hypervisors, and Windows operating environments
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
• Strong ability to self-learn new storage technologies
• Monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills
• Strong organization and analysis skills
• Strong focus on quality and customer service
• Ability to multitask and prioritize work
• Strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills
• Interest in scripting/coding for infrastructure automation

Responsibilities:

• Support, certify, and document storage and backup infrastructure
• Serve as a Level 2 escalation point for existing infrastructure
• Provide follow-the-sun support to our systems as part of a global infrastructure team
• Maintain the security, availability, and ongoing operation of Storage and SAN infrastructure according to business requirements and operational procedures
• Automate infrastructure tasks to reduce repetitive or time-consuming processes using SRE principles and infrastructure-as-code methodology
• Perform complex provisioning, advanced maintenance, data replication, disaster recovery, data migration, and documentation for Open Systems Storage and Backup environments
• Support complex Storage and Backup devices, including SAN, NAS, and backup solutions across all tiers with minimal supervision
• Participate in on-call support for our infrastructure and systems
• Work on a permanent shift schedule, either Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time
