Staff User Researcher

Salary: £66,000 - 106,000 per year

Requirements:

• Demonstrable experience leading UX research within the tech/product industry
• Strong judgment and systems thinking, with the ability to match research approach to the level of ambiguity
• Experience with mixed-method research
• Proven track record of scaling research influence across teams and senior stakeholders
• Ability to build decision confidence through well-designed studies and clear evidence
• Top-notch storytelling skills, connecting complex operational work to real customer impact
• Ability to articulate research strategy, define success, and influence squad and team focus
• Comfort establishing and tracking metrics that show whether the platform and research are working
• Deep understanding of how research supports team, squad, and business goals
• Track record of proactively spotting opportunities
• Skill in influencing senior stakeholders and negotiating while maintaining positive relationships
• Track record of mentoring or coaching others in research
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity across multiple product areas in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in or comfort with leveraging AI tools to accelerate research delivery
• This role is likely not suitable for those whose experience is primarily market research and/or academia

Responsibilities:

• Join the Mitigation Platform team in London and help advance our mission to build an open, fair financial system for everyone, everywhere
• Build the foundational platform that teams across Wise use to design, launch, and improve mitigation experiences at scale
• Work with cross-functional partners to understand the needs and behaviours of internal teams and agents
• Uncover what is common across mitigation workflows, what should remain team-specific, and where platform-level solutions can create the most leverage
• Shape broader platform questions, including escalation across departments, platform flexibility, default handling experiences, and how AI and LLM-powered solutions fit into agent workflows
• Define the questions worth answering in a vast problem space and choose the right methods to answer them
• Translate insights about complex operational systems into product strategy the platform team can act on
• Connect fragmented knowledge across teams into a coherent picture and use it to influence decisions beyond the immediate squad
• Set priorities and research direction proactively, aligning work with squad and business goals
• Lead complex evaluative and generative research and raise the bar for quality and rigour
• Balance the long-term platform vision with immediate research needs and adapt research plans as the space takes shape
• Drive impact through research insights that shape the product now and in the future
• Influence teams, squads, and senior leaders to drive user-centred decision making
• Champion quality, users, and a human-centered approach to product development
• Use AI where it genuinely helps to accelerate research delivery and shape AI- and LLM-powered workflows for agents
• Mentor non-researchers to run quality research and improve research standards
