Engineering Manager - Content API (f/m/d)

Salary: £50,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• We have 5+ years of experience leading development teams, with a track record of delivering complex, high-impact technical solutions.
• We are proficient in web technologies such as TypeScript, JavaScript, React, and Node.js, and familiar with headless CMS platforms, preferably Contentful.
• We excel at optimizing performance and scalability, with experience handling complex content structures and large datasets.
• We balance innovation with immediate impact, overseeing technical delivery while driving team capabilities and capacity.
• We collaborate effectively across teams including Product, Design, Data, and Engineering, aligning technical work with business goals.

Responsibilities:

• We lead and grow a globally distributed API development team, ensuring a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• We mentor and develop team members across all levels.
• We define the team roadmap, with a particular focus on reliable, intelligent, and developer-friendly APIs that seamlessly connect content, data, and AI.
• We collaborate with Product and Design to craft the roadmap and ensure its successful execution.
• We work closely with stakeholders in Product, Design, Research, Infrastructure, and Security to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• We oversee the technical approach for integrating and scaling the platforms delivery and management APIs.
• We ensure that the architecture remains performant, secure, and scalable as user needs grow.
• We guide the team through solutioning, coding, testing, and deployment.
• We ensure adherence to best practices in coding, architecture, and testing.
• We foster a collaborative, innovative development environment.
• We hire and mentor junior and senior developers, promoting technical excellence and helping to build individual and team growth through hands-on leadership and ongoing feedback.
• We oversee day-to-day development operations, ensuring the team has the capacity to cover all technical tasks, maintenance, and new feature development, while ensuring global coverage for continuous web operations.
• We work with Product Managers to define, prioritize, and execute the roadmap, balancing user impact with business objectives.
• We ensure clear communication of goals, progress, and blockers to stakeholders.
