Senior C++ Software Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• A solid academic background in computer science, electronics, or a similarly applicable subject.
• Excellent software design and development skills, with in-depth knowledge of how C++ works under the skin.
• Ability to avoid performance pitfalls and create fast, reliable code.
• A good understanding of Linux.
• Understanding of areas such as concurrency, network protocols, and CPU architectures.
• Existing coding skills, or a demonstrable interest in Rust.
• Great teamwork, communication, and analytical skills.
• Full existing UK work permission.

Responsibilities:

• Create highly optimised low-level code to run under Linux.
• Play a leading role throughout the SDLC, from defining initial requirements to software implementation, verification, and deployment.
• Focus on dependability as well as clever optimisations to take best advantage of the underlying hardware.
• Interact with colleagues from other technical backgrounds such as electronics and FPGA design.
• Work with the end users of the code we create.
• Help steer the technical direction of the team.
• Provide mentoring for less experienced colleagues.
