Enterprise Architect (Data)
Job Description
Salary: £68,000 - 108,000 per year
Requirements:- A background in IT with demonstrable experience in data.
- Experience in developing and governing data principles, policies, standards, processes and/or procedures.
- An understanding of how IT can be used to support the business.
- Experience in establishing professional relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to simplify complex technical information by using appropriate and accessible language for non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to communicate clearly.
- Experience in data modelling for operational and analytical systems, including conceptual models through to physical schema deployments.
- An understanding of the data lifecycle and its implications for GDPR.
- Experience in process modelling using BPMN and other modelling tools.
- Either hold, or be willing to work towards, professional IT qualifications such as TOGAF or CITP.
- Ability to obtain National Security Vetting at Security Check level, including meeting the required UK residency period.
- Ability to meet the nationality and residency requirements for National Security Vetting.
- Ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English and/or Welsh where required.
- Support the Senior Enterprise Data Architect in defining data strategy and roadmaps aligned with business strategies and requirements.
- Secure senior stakeholder buy-in for data strategy and architectural directions.
- Support the development of the Enterprise Data Model and our wider data modelling capability.
- Document our data assets to improve understanding, enable better data integration, reduce legacy data silos, and support the transition of our complex IT estate towards a smaller set of strategic systems.
- Work with colleagues to understand and help design the operational considerations of solutions.
- Understand our systems and the technologies that deliver those systems.
- Understand our wider technology systems and strategies.
- Play a supporting role and deliver specific technical data-related aspects of the service delivery of our systems.
- Contribute to the delivery of data strategies, principles, standards and other data architecture deliverables, making them readily available through collaboration tools.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of the Enterprise Data Model, supporting programmes and projects in the definition of conceptual and logical models.
- Articulate data viewpoints to colleagues, senior management and business partners.
- Champion data architecture and appropriate business data use in our systems.
- Support solution designs across business, data, application and technology domains.

We are HM Revenue and Customs, and this role sits within our Enterprise Architecture team, which is responsible for setting our architectural direction and providing consultancy and support to solution architects. This is an exciting opportunity for an Enterprise Data Architect to help shape our departmental data strategy, architecture roadmaps and reference architectures while contributing to solution design across multiple domains.
