Modern Desktop Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £37,000 - 77,000 per year
Requirements:- Experience in line with the role requirements
- Microsoft certified in any of the following or similar would be an advantage:
- Microsoft 365 Fundamentals / Administrator (MS-900 / MS-102)
- Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102)
- Identity and Access Administrator (SC-300)
- Azure Administrator (AZ-104)
- ITIL V4 Foundation
- Technical experience with Microsoft OS installation, deployment and support
- Technical experience with Linux OS installation and support
- Strong experience in Intune endpoint management
- Strong experience in administration across the M365 stack
- Understanding of physical infrastructure including AD, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs and Wi-Fi
- Familiarity with the practical use of PowerShell
- Experience with corporate mobile phone management
- Experience of Request, Incident, Problem and Change Management
- Experience of cloud PaaS such as Azure and AWS would be an advantage
- Excellent communication and networking skills
- Ability to produce high quality technical documentation
- Strong customer focus
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities

- Able to use a high level of initiative
- Flexible and agile approach to high workloads
- Strong advocate for the IT Department in the wider business
- Lead the design, delivery and support of the modern Intune desktop and wider M365 environment
- Act as a bridging role between the Platform and EUS teams
- Lead the ongoing development and support of the managed Intune laptop desktop
- Act as the primary 3rd line escalation point for the Service Desk
- Handle software packaging and deployment
- Own ongoing vulnerability compliance to align with CE+ and DCC mandated guidelines
- Provide Windows operating system support
- Provide basic Linux support and understanding
- Provide iOS and Android phone support
- Provide advanced M365 support and administration
- Support SharePoint and develop understanding where needed
- Provide technical leadership in project teams
- Work closely with the Head of IT Service to develop and improve IT service provision and propose improvements
- Develop and maintain high quality technical documentation for use across the wider team
- Research and develop solutions to incidents and problems as necessary
- Engage with the Change Management Process
- Maintain strong relationships with the IT Platform Team
- Deliver an excellent level of service to customers at all times
- Keep IT management apprised of any ongoing problems
- Travel to other Roke sites as necessary
- Fully comply with our policies and procedures
- Undertake other reasonable duties commensurate with the job holders experience and qualifications as required for the smooth operation of the business
