Senior QA Engineer

Salary: £57,000 - 97,000 per year

Requirements:

• 5+ years of broad QA experience, with several years in a Senior/Lead QA role and a proven track record of fast-paced delivery.
• Extensive backend testing skills, including testing complex logic, APIs, databases, migrations, and third-party integrations, ideally related to payments or transactions.
• Deep understanding of testing mobile apps and web technologies, including the intricacies of each platform.
• Broad experience with automated testing techniques and a solid background in test data design and implementation strategies.
• Demonstrated experience leveraging existing AI tools to improve testing efficiency.
• Proven ability to work effectively with senior leadership and build strong relationships while fostering a culture where quality is everyones responsibility.
• Excellent understanding of testing techniques, with the ability to coach and mentor others in their application.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a pragmatic approach to bug reporting, including understanding risk, impact, and dependencies.
• Experience designing and implementing comprehensive test plans and contributing to automation frameworks for complex cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities:

• Help ensure the quality of our products as a hands-on senior member of the QA team, reporting to the Senior QA lead.
• Seamlessly deliver numerous large and complex projects, acting as the sole QA on a squad and managing competing workstreams through effective prioritisation and time management.
• Foster a quality is everyones responsibility philosophy and influence team members to prioritise risk-based testing over traditional ticket testing.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and Compliance to define testing and release strategies that balance risk, speed, and quality.
• Run engaging cross-functional meetings such as amigos, go/no-go sessions, and incident reviews, promoting positive outcomes through coordination and issue prioritisation.
• Advocate for the use of AI tools and agents throughout the testing lifecycle, improving efficiency while applying human critical thinking to validate outcomes.
• Assess features for test automation suitability, collaborate with engineers across testing types, and work with the Automation team to build and promote stable end-to-end automation.
• Be a visible leader and role model within the QA team, mentoring and coaching others while supporting departmental operations to encourage learning and innovation.
• Represent us externally in the tech community and bring fresh ideas back to the team.
