InPlace Product Owner
Job Description
Salary: £58,000 - 98,000 per year
Requirements:- We require a current SAFe POPM certification.
- We need the ability to translate strategy into measurable outcomes for customers.
- We require a minimum of 3 years experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst, with proven skills in requirements gathering, backlog refinement, and prioritisation in a data or integration environment.
- We need proven ability to define roadmaps and prioritise backlogs at scale.
- We require proficiency in managing competing stakeholder, technical, and service priorities.
- We need experience with PI Planning and Agile delivery frameworks.
- We require experience delivering show-and-tells and presentations to varied stakeholder groups, with the ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- We need excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to self-organise and a strong attention to detail.
- Desirable: experience in higher education or complex public sector organisations.
- Desirable: familiarity with Student Services and the range of products in the student value stream.
- Desirable: experience working with Azure DevOps.
- Desirable: exposure to AI-enabled product capabilities.
- Desirable: knowledge of working with multiple stakeholders and balancing needs.
- We define and prioritise the team backlog to ensure alignment with customer and stakeholder needs as defined within features.
- We define PBIs so they clearly set out acceptance criteria and meet business value or enable the delivery of business value defined in parent features.
- We collaborate with the Product Management team to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders.
- We maintain clear communication between other Product Owners, the business, and the development team, ensuring complex information is conveyed clearly and precisely.
- We participate in key ceremonies such as PI Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- We interpret and assess customer needs, identify trends, and generate original ideas.
- We work with others in a cross-functional, multi-team environment.
- We work with leadership to enhance and implement better processes and ways of working.
- We network regularly to create and sustain long-term relationships, both internally and externally, to influence events and deliver outcomes.
- We commit to ongoing professional development to stay current in product ownership best practices, data management trends, and Agile delivery methodologies.

We are the Product Chapter, a vertical team of Product Managers and Product Owners delivering value across Kings horizontal value streams within IT Digital Solutions. We work closely with Product roles across the university, alongside our partners in the Agile Centre of Excellence, Enterprise Architecture, Business Analysis, Delivery, and Build, to mature our service and develop product management and a product mindset at Kings. This role is focused on the Student Value Stream for InPlace, supporting agile delivery in a fixed-term full-time role until 31 July 2026, based at Lavington Street with flexible working to suit the team. The salary is £53,947 - £63,350 per annum inclusive of London Weighting Allowance.
