• Strong commercial experience with Scala
• Experience developing applications using Play Framework
• Strong knowledge of unit testing and integration testing
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience developing and supporting microservices architectures
• Cloud-based infrastructure experience
• Understanding of application security principles
• Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
• Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Pair Programming experience
• DevOps practices and tooling experience

Responsibilities:

• Develop and enhance Scala Play microservices
• Deliver high-quality code within Agile delivery teams
• Work closely with researchers, designers and technical specialists
• Support services throughout the full development lifecycle
• Participate in testing, deployment and monitoring activities
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices
• Collaborate across development communities to share knowledge and drive innovation

We are supporting a major public sector digital transformation programme focused on delivering modern, user-centric services that support the UK governments Making Tax Digital initiative. We are helping transform the UK tax system through innovative digital solutions and cloud-native technologies. This role is based in Telford with onsite working two days per week, offered on a 6-month contract at a rate of £490 per day, inside IR35, and requires BPSS clearance. You will join a mature, collaborative, and supportive Agile environment with exposure to modern cloud technologies and DevOps practices, and the opportunity to contribute to a high-profile programme with potential extension opportunities.
