Functieomschrijving

Join Quantum Systems and help bring autonomous ground systems into real-world operations. As a Senior Autonomy Stack Integration Engineer in the Land Domain, you will ensure proper end-to-end functionality of our products across the whole autonomy stack. You will have a unique overview and understanding of details of all interacting components and work with the teams to make sure that component integration, tooling, and verification are innate to our development processes and that broader stack changes are exercised swiftly and with minimal friction.

You will work at the intersection of the autonomy software stack, vehicle manufacturers, and our SW Factory, making sure our vehicle controls are robust, safe, and reliably deployable.

What is your Day to Day Mission:

  • Lead by example with excellent engineering practices within your team as well as all other land domain teams

  • Ensure that component teams can integrate their components safely and easily as much as possible and enable component team ownership after integration.

  • Set priorities, ensure delivery of high-quality engineer, and establish best practices for specification, development, testing, and review for both your team and the component teams you work with.

  • Be responsible for the end-to-end integration of the autonomy stack on our ground vehicle platforms, from individual software components to a functioning autonomous system.

  • Establish and maintain a deep understanding of the interfaces, dependencies, timing, data flows, and failure modes across the autonomy stack.

  • Own system-level troubleshooting and triaging, identify issues across component boundaries, and work with the responsible teams to drive them to resolution.

  • Build and maintain the tooling required to inspect, diagnose, reproduce, and understand system behavior across the complete autonomy stack.

  • Define and maintain representative integration environments, configurations, datasets, scenarios, and system-level tests.

  • Ensure integration on the vehicles and drive issues to resolution: strong troubleshooting, triaging, and integration discipline.

  • Apply robust software development practices across all parts of the stack the team is responsible for.

  • Build and run VnV setups for any changes your team exposes on the autonomy stack, from bench and rig testing to vehicle-level testing.

  • Establish automated testing and deployment in strong alignment with the SW Factory (target CI).

  • Treat safety and security as first-class requirements throughout development and integration.

  • Work hand-in-hand with Perception, Motion Planning & Control, Pilot, vehicle platform, SW Factory, Verification & Validation, and ground operations teams.

  • Establish clear interfaces and integration contracts between teams and identify integration risks early.

  • Coordinate broader autonomy stack changes involving multiple teams and ensure that they are validated end-to-end.What you bring to the team.

What you bring to the team:

  • Engineering degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a comparable field.

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, robotics, autonomous systems, embedded systems, or comparable complex software-intensive systems.

  • Strong experience integrating complex distributed software systems involving software, compute hardware, sensors, networks, and physical platforms.

  • Broad understanding of autonomous robotics stacks, including perception, localization, planning, controls, vehicle interfaces, and operator-facing systems.

  • Strong programming skills in modern C++ and Python, with the ability to understand and debug unfamiliar components across a large software stack.

  • Hands-on experience with Linux-based robotic or embedded systems, networking, middleware such as ROS 2 or comparable technologies, and deployment on target hardware.

  • Strong understanding of software interfaces, distributed system behavior, timing, synchronization, observability, and failure analysis.

  • Experience with simulation, SIL, HIL, system integration rigs, and vehicle- or robot-level testing.

  • Proven track record in robust software development practices including automated testing, CI/CD, reproducible deployments, and system-level verification.

  • Outstanding troubleshooting and triaging skills, particularly for problems spanning multiple components or engineering disciplines.

  • Strong technical communication: you can distill crisp action items from complex discussions and translate them into team priorities and plans.

  • Fluent in German and English.

  • Player-coach mindset: high ownership, pragmatic, and comfortable working across organizational and technical boundaries in a fast-paced environment.

Your Benefits:

  • Direct impact: See your contributions rapidly integrated from cutting-edge research into industrialized products, flying in the field within short development cycles.

  • Culture & Environment: A dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative startup environment with flat hierarchies, efficient collaboration, and a strong emphasis on continuous learning opportunities.

  • Work-life Balance: We offer flexible work schedules, and 30 days of paid vacation each year to support your personal and professional life.

  • Lunch Benefit: We promote healthy eating and the well-being of our employees with a monthly lunch budget.

  • Health & Wellness: We support your physical well-being with a company-subsidized eGym Wellpass membership, giving you access to thousands of gyms and sports facilities.
