Systems/Software Engineer

Salary: £42,000 - 82,000 per year

Requirements:

• Bachelors or masters degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
• Typically 4–6 years of experience
• English communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of SAS and NVMe protocols
• Extensive experience with embedded system design and implementation
• Extensive experience designing and developing distributed storage systems
• Expertise in multiple software systems design tools and languages
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience designing software systems that run on multiple platform types
• Knowledge of software systems testing methodologies, including writing and executing test plans, debugging, and using testing scripts and tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with mastery of English and the local language
• Ability to communicate product architectures and design proposals effectively and negotiate options at management levels

Responsibilities:

• Design enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools
• Analyze designs and determine the coding, programming, and integration activities needed to meet general objectives and align with the product or solution architecture
• Write and execute testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned application areas; identify and debug issues and develop solutions for code and integration
• Lead project teams of software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost-effective, high-quality solutions for assigned systems portions or subsystems
• Collaborate and communicate with management and internal and outsourced development partners about software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution
• Represent the software systems engineering team throughout all phases of larger and more complex development projects
• Guide and mentor less-experienced staff members
• Apply subject matter expertise to solve common and complex technical problems and recommend alternatives
• Exercise independent judgment and consult with others to determine how to accomplish work and achieve objectives
