Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Salary: £39,000 - 79,000 per year

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree or higher in an analytical subject, such as Computer Science or Electronic/Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of demonstrated experience in software development
• Extensive architecture and programming experience, with the ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Strong experience with Kubernetes and microservices
• Experience with GitOps and CI/CD
• Hands-on experience with Helm or Kustomize is advantageous
• Experience with GitOps tools such as Argo CD is advantageous
• Knowledge of secrets management tools such as HashiCorp Vault is advantageous
• Experience with observability, including metrics, logs, or tracing, is advantageous

Responsibilities:

• Design, codify, test, and deliver Kubernetes-based microservices configurations using Kubernetes and Helm
• Build reusable base configurations with environment overlays and enable safe promotion across development, staging, and production
• Drive operations in a GitOps model using Argo CD
• Implement progressive delivery, including canary releases and validation gates
• Codify autoscaling and resiliency, and manage secure secrets using HashiCorp Vault and Kubernetes Secrets
• Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate development, validation, and optimization of configuration-as-code
• Address challenges across configuration, policy, observability, and data services
• Use Prometheus and Grafana to improve reliability and performance
• Own end-to-end configuration quality and enforce governance with Open Policy Agent
• Ensure secure, compliant, and reproducible deployments, including backup, restore, and disaster recovery
• Advance a self-service platform using Backstage and Argo CD, enabling teams to deploy through declarative configurations
• Promote standard processes and continuous improvement
