Quantitative Researcher/Developer, Treasury FX
Job Description
Salary: £66,000 - 106,000 per year
Requirements:- 4+ years of relevant quantitative or engineering experience, with strong Python development skills.
- A quantitative background in mathematics, physics, engineering, or finance, with the ability to read a model and reason about its correctness.
- Experience taking quantitative work into production and owning its ongoing validation, monitoring, and improvement.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with quants, analysts, traders, product managers, and engineers.
- A product mindset, with an understanding of who uses your systems and why.
- For the Quantitative Researcher track: strong experience in quantitative research or financial modelling, with depth in areas such as pricing, forecasting, risk, or trading.
- For the Quantitative Researcher track: ability to translate open-ended financial problems into quantitative models, select appropriate statistical or numerical methods, and explain assumptions and limitations.
- For the Quantitative Researcher track: experience designing backtests and out-of-sample validation while accounting for data leakage, transaction costs, and changing market conditions.
- For the Quantitative Developer track: strong experience with microservices, databases, and production infrastructure.
- For the Quantitative Developer track: experience with streaming systems, real-time data pipelines, or event-driven architectures such as Kafka, Flink, or Redis.
- For the Quantitative Developer track: experience testing, monitoring, and debugging complex systems under load.
- Bonus experience includes FX or financial markets, term structure modelling, stochastic calculus or Monte Carlo methods, interest rate curve bootstrapping, algorithmic execution, and data lake or warehouse technologies such as Snowflake, Iceberg, or Spark.
- Build and operate the quantitative models and production systems behind FX pricing, risk, and trading.
- Own a primary focus in either production quantitative engineering or applied quantitative modelling, with opportunities to contribute across both areas.
- Implement quantitative work in Python, taking it from research or prototype through reliable production use.
- Validate, backtest, and monitor model and service performance against realised outcomes.
- Handle deployment, incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement with stakeholders.
- Develop shared quantitative libraries used across multiple services.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and operational excellence.
- Monitor and improve the reliability of real-time pricing and risk systems, including alerting.
- Manage market data and onboard new pipelines.
- Design quantitative infrastructure and systems with the engineering team.
- Develop backtesting frameworks, model validation, and risk modelling with the Risk team, including VaR, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
- Contribute to customer behaviour modelling, pricing strategy, and product development.
