Lead Software Engineer - Java/Python/AI-ML
Job Description
Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year
Requirements:- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with applied experience
- Experience in AWS cloud development, particularly application design and development
- Experience integrating AI/ML models, prompt engineering, LLM APIs such as OpenAI and Bedrock, and generative AI
- Advanced proficiency in Java and Python
- Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience building RESTful APIs and working with event-driven or serverless architectures
- Experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, including setting team expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Proficiency across the software development life cycle
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
- Experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform or equivalent
- Preferred: Experience with automation using scripting languages
- Preferred: Relevant certifications, such as AWS Certified Developer, Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer, or Google Professional Cloud Developer
- Preferred: Familiarity with SQL, NoSQL, and cloud-native databases
- Preferred: Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies
- Preferred: Experience building loosely coupled software and familiarity with SOA or microservice architectures
- Design, develop, and implement cloud-based applications and services
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to align design solutions with business goals
- Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and security
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers
- Stay current with cloud, AI/ML, and industry trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement
- Lead software engineering communities of practice to promote awareness and adoption of new technologies
- Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish validation standards and promote reuse of effective patterns
- Use software development life cycle tools, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value of automation
- Develop creative software solutions and provide technical troubleshooting, applying unconventional approaches where appropriate
- Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others
- Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate recurring issue remediation to improve application and system stability
