Data Solution Architect

Salary: £45,000 - 66,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience designing resilient, flexible, and secure data pipelines with Google Cloud Platform or other cloud vendors such as AWS or Azure.
• Hands-on experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines, working with structured and unstructured data, and analysing datasets.
• Experience with core cloud capabilities, including data ingestion, data warehousing, object storage, orchestration, monitoring, security, and data processing services.
• Experience implementing data governance frameworks, cyber security frameworks, and operating models.
• Enthusiasm for diagnosing and solving business problems with data and cutting-edge technology, and working collaboratively across departments.
• Experience designing AI-enabled solutions and architectures that leverage enterprise data assets is desirable.
• Knowledge of large language models, AI agents, Agentic AI patterns, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), MCP (Model Context Protocol), and associated tooling is advantageous.
• Experience with Atlan and Anomalo is preferred.
• Experience designing and implementing solutions using open ecosystem technologies is desirable.
• Knowledge of Apache Iceberg, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and open table formats is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Design and own scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-effective data solutions across Sky Business and Regulatory programmes.
• Leverage Google Cloud Platform and cloud-agnostic technologies to deliver strategic business outcomes.
• Create, document, and present architecture artefacts, including High-Level Designs.
• Collaborate closely with architecture, engineering, and business teams to drive alignment and successful delivery.
• Assess emerging technologies, conduct proof-of-concepts, and identify opportunities to enhance Skys data capabilities.
• Translate business requirements into robust data solutions that deliver measurable impact and real business value.
• Develop and refine strategies to improve data storage, processing, and retrieval efficiency.
• Champion best practices in architecture, data governance, security, quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise standards and long-term strategic objectives.
