Cloud Security Engineer

Salary: £47,000 - 86,000 per year

Requirements:

• Relevant certifications such as Azure Security Engineer, CCSP, CISSP, or CCSK are highly desirable.
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and securing cloud environments, particularly with Microsoft Azure services.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements such as GDPR, ISO 27001, and NIST, and experience implementing security controls to meet them.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud security best practices, network security, identity and access management, encryption, and secure coding principles.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps methodologies and tools for integrating security into development processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Defender security assessment tools, vulnerability scanning tools, and SIEM platforms.
• Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyse complex security issues and develop effective solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• In-depth understanding of the Microsoft ecosystem, including hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, load balancers, application gateways, proxies, M365, EDR, and KQL.
• Familiarity with scripting and automation toolsets, including Microsoft ARM, BICEP, PowerShell, and Python.
• Track record of designing, building, and deploying scalable, secure, and highly available security infrastructures using Azure.
• Strong proficiency in using data and advanced analytics to support decision-making and continuously enhance security solutions.
• Expertise in using Azure DevOps for efficient, collaborative development processes, including developing security solutions and updates in code.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate new security technologies and cloud services, carrying out engineering work and security analysis to determine whether solutions should be pursued and implementing them as required, with a focus on cloud-first and cloud-native technologies.
• Develop cloud security solutions using Security as Code principles, cloud automation tooling, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with Security Architects to define and own our cloud security strategy, maintaining a continuously updated and secure environment.
• Establish cloud security best practices and develop, build, and evaluate cloud-native services that provide necessary guardrails for developers.
• Validate that cloud solutions meet our published enterprise security standards, are properly governed, and are delivered in accordance with established guidelines.
• Work in an agile way with teams across engineering disciplines and strategic partners to release enterprise-class cloud services.
