Senior Developer – Equity Derivatives Tech (VP)

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience as a technical lead or senior developer
• Extensive experience in system analysis and developing production-quality software applications
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Experience with microservices systems and container or cloud deployment and hosting designs
• Understanding of financial instruments, ideally in Equity, Derivatives, and Delta 1
• Proficiency in multithreading and parallel task programming
• Experience maintaining robust testing practices and clean CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Java or Kotlin, Kafka, and ELK
• Experience safely leveraging AI coding agents such as Devin, Copilot, or Claude Code
• Understanding of trade booking and lifecycle processes preferred
• Knowledge or experience with FIX in equity order management or request-for-quote flows preferred
• Additional experience with React JS, Apache NiFi, MongoDB, Solace, or similar messaging middleware preferred
• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required; masters degree preferred

We are Citi, seeking a senior developer for our Belfast-based Equity Derivatives Pre-Trade technology team. You will serve as a technical and delivery lead, helping design and build a pre-trade request-for-quote and pricing platform used by our Equity Derivatives and Delta 1 desks globally. This is an opportunity to contribute as a technical lead within our wider Equity technology division. You will work daily with technology, front-office sales, trading, and quantitative colleagues across our Derivative and Delta 1 desks. This is a full-time role in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
