Head of Artificial Intelligence

Salary: £33,000 - 73,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong background in Software Engineering, Data, Machine Learning, or Data Science
• Progression into architecture, technical leadership, or management
• Highly technically literate and able to stay close to engineering
• Experience in areas such as production LLM applications, Generative AI, Agentic AI, RAG, Machine Learning, AI architecture, cloud-based AI platforms, MLOps/LLMOps, evaluation and observability, AI governance, and software engineering/system design
• Ability to design and deliver AI systems that are used in production
• Comfortable operating directly with clients and senior stakeholders
• Technical credibility, leadership, client impact, and an entrepreneurial approach
• UK right to work required

Responsibilities:

• Lead the technical direction and development of the Applied AI capability
• Lead senior client conversations around AI strategy and implementation
• Take AI opportunities from discovery through to production
• Lead engineers building AI systems from the ground up
• Set technical direction across Generative, Agentic, and Predictive AI
• Challenge architecture and solution design where needed
• Lead important client engagements and remain approximately 20–30% billable
• Develop and mentor senior technical people
• Build and scale the team as demand increases
• Work alongside Sales and Pre-Sales to shape and win new engagements
• Contribute to proposals, solution design, and statements of work
• Develop repeatable AI offerings and technical accelerators
• Drive innovation and evaluate emerging AI technologies
• Act as a senior technical voice with executive and engineering stakeholders
• Help the wider organisation adopt AI effectively
