TechOps Lead

Salary: £50,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:

• We manage a technical team today, or have very recently, with real direct reports and real performance conversations while staying hands-on ourselves.
• We have run a busy operation with high ticket volumes, multiple sites and live incidents, and kept on top of it.
• We are an adept service desk manager and know what to prioritise, when and what to escalate, and how to direct the teams workflow so the queue keeps moving.
• Our instinct is to investigate first: querying data, testing APIs, and reading logs. L3 application support backgrounds fit this role well.
• We have solid networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, DNS, and VPNs. Deep enterprise networking is not needed.
• We stay calm during live incidents and organised when several things need attention at once.
• We are able to commit to the Croydon hybrid working pattern with occasional UK site travel.
• We have the right to work in the UK without requiring visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the service desk and develop a small team of TechOps engineers.
• Personally investigate the hardest faults across cameras, networks, kiosks, and our backend platform.
• Use SQL, API testing, and log analysis to get to the root cause of operational problems.
• Improve monitoring and alerting so we catch degradation before it becomes an incident.
• Technically assist on new site launches, including network design, hardware specification, and commissioning.
• Work closely with our Estate Manager, our developers, and the COO to improve the estate week on week.
• Run 1:1s, set standards, manage KPIs, coach the team, and own the service desk.
• Diagnose and resolve technical problems across hardware, software, and configuration through to resolution.
