Salary: £26,000 - 66,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Strong commercial experience designing and developing cloud-native applications within AWS.
  • Excellent knowledge of AWS services including S3, Lambda, EC2, ECS, SQS and Amazon Aurora.
  • Expert-level Python development skills.
  • Proven experience designing and building highly available, scalable and resilient software solutions.
  • Strong experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes and Helm.
  • Experience with Git, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD practices.
  • Good understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and software testing best practices.
  • Experience designing and implementing ETL processes, both within and outside AWS.
  • Desirable: experience working within Agile teams using Jira.
  • Desirable: knowledge of Java and/or C++.
  • Desirable: experience with Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory (ADF).
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and maintain scalable, real-time telematics applications using Python.
  • Optimise applications for low latency and high throughput to efficiently process large-scale vehicle data.
  • Develop cloud-native solutions using AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, SQS and Amazon Aurora.
  • Build and deploy containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes, implementing serverless architectures where appropriate.
  • Apply best practices for secure data transmission and storage, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitor application health and performance using AWS CloudWatch, X-Ray and other monitoring tools, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, DevOps and product teams to deliver solutions that meet business and customer requirements.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions and Agile ceremonies to promote engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

We are hiring an AWS Cloud Engineer for a hybrid role based at our Exeter office, with two office days per week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, as part of a talented team focused on the evolution of our cloud architecture. We are developing, modernising and optimising high-performance systems and cloud-native applications that process large volumes of real-time telematics data. You will work alongside software engineers, data engineers, DevOps and product teams, contributing to secure, resilient solutions built to the highest engineering standards.
