SAP Principal Consultant - Finance

Salary: £27,000 - 67,000 per year

Requirements:

• We need at least 6 years experience in Finance and Controlling, with SAP S/4HANA experience highly desirable.
• We need strong knowledge of finance and end-to-end business processes.
• We need a solid understanding of integrated SAP modules and processes, including Materials Management (MM), Sales & Distribution (SD), Plant Maintenance (PM), and Asset Management (AM).
• An understanding of SAP Project Systems (PS) would be advantageous.
• We need proven experience of SAP implementations and supporting large-scale transformation programmes.
• We need excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation.
• We need the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective finance and system solutions.
• Knowledge of SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) Planning is desirable.
• Knowledge of Financial Consolidation using S/4HANA Embedded BPC would be beneficial.
• Experience with SAP Concur is advantageous.

Responsibilities:

• We partner closely with Finance and business stakeholders to understand strategic objectives, challenges, and operational requirements, translating them into clear, scalable functional and technical solutions that deliver tangible business value and support long-term growth.
• We lead and manage finance system change initiatives throughout the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering, process design, and solution development through to testing, stakeholder engagement, training, deployment, and post-implementation support, ensuring successful outcomes and user adoption.
• We drive continuous improvement across finance systems and processes by proactively identifying opportunities to optimise workflows, increase automation, enhance reporting capabilities, and improve the overall user experience, helping the business maximise the value of its technology investments.
• We act as a trusted advisor and key liaison between Finance leadership, business stakeholders, technical teams, third-party vendors, and offshore Application Management Support (AMS) partners, fostering strong relationships, aligning priorities, and ensuring the successful delivery of solutions that meet both business and technical requirements.
• We provide expert guidance on finance systems, best practices, and process improvement opportunities, supporting the organisations digital transformation journey and helping to shape the future finance technology landscape.
• We influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, effectively communicating complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable way, while building confidence, driving collaboration, and ensuring alignment across multiple workstreams and projects.

This permanent SAP Principal Consultant Finance role sits within our IT and SAP team, which plays a key role in optimising and transforming our SAP applications and enterprise systems across Finance, HR, Procurement, Capital Delivery, and Asset Maintenance/Management. The role is initially based in Bradford and will move to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, with hybrid working of one day a week in the office. We offer a competitive salary of £72,000 to £77,000 depending on experience, a car lease/allowance scheme, annual bonus, private health care, an attractive pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and wellness days, and a wide range of additional benefits.
