Telecoms Field Network Engineer

Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require proven telecoms field engineering experience.
• We require hands-on experience in installation, commissioning, maintenance, assure, and fault resolution activities.
• We require experience supporting SDH, PDH, and Microwave Radio technologies.
• We require strong Cisco and/or Alcatel networking knowledge.
• We require capability across LAN, WAN, and MPLS networking.

• We require a strong understanding of maintenance and assurance activities.
• We require a full UK driving licence.
• We prefer Scottish Power authorisations, NRSWA, EUSR, IOSH, Emergency First Aid at Work, and DC/AC competency certifications.
• We prefer experience working in high-voltage substation environments.

Responsibilities:

• We deliver installation, commissioning, and support services across telecoms network infrastructure.
• We perform assurance, maintenance, and fault resolution activities across utility telecoms networks.
• We support SDH, PDH, Microwave Radio, Commtel, and Xtran network technologies.
• We work collaboratively with Project Engineers to deliver implementation activities.
• We ensure delivery against agreed SLA, quality, and health and safety standards.
• We complete project documentation, technical reporting, and engineering updates.
• We monitor progress against delivery plans and escalate risks and issues appropriately.
• We support routing, switching, and IP networking environments including WAN, LAN, and MPLS.
• We provide timely stakeholder communication and operational updates.
• We carry out routine maintenance inspections and nominated RMI activities.
• We recommend operational improvements and cost-saving opportunities where identified.
• We operate effectively within live utility and high-voltage environments.
• We provide 24x7 first-line assurance and operational support in a field-based setting.

We are recruiting for an experienced contract Field Engineer / Telecoms Field Engineer to support utility telecommunications network infrastructure across Scotland. This is a field-based role covering sites across Scotland within a 24x7 operational support environment, including on-call rota, shift, and emergency response coverage. We support critical telecommunications networks spanning utility and power environments, delivering mission-critical installation, commissioning, maintenance, fault resolution, and assurance activities.
