IT Manager
Job Description
Salary: £55,000 - 60,000 per year
Requirements:- Must be eligible to work in the UK.
- Proven IT management experience, including leading and developing IT staff.
- Strong hands-on experience setting up, deploying, supporting, and troubleshooting Windows desktops, Windows Server, and macOS.
- Strong Microsoft Intune and MDM experience across laptops, desktops, and tablets.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID / Active Directory.
- Network administration experience covering switches, wireless access points, routers, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
- High-level network security experience, including firewalls, web filtering, VPNs, and security policies.
- Experience managing IT budgets, MSPs, and external suppliers.
- Experience supporting classroom AV, projectors, and interactive screens.
- Knowledge of GDPR and IT-related legislation.
- Strong communication, planning, troubleshooting, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands, and identify improvements.
- Willingness to travel between sites and work flexibly across locations.
- Education sector experience is desirable; candidates from other sectors with the required skills, knowledge, and experience will also be considered.
- Desirable experience includes consolidating IT services across multiple sites into a shared operating model; standardising IT platforms, processes, tools, and documentation; leading RFI/RFP exercises, MSP evaluation, vendor selection, and supplier transitions; and establishing or developing a shared service desk.
- Further desirable experience includes education systems such as Management Information Systems, safeguarding, and parent communication systems; Google Workspace; CIS Controls or Cyber Essentials; VoIP and telephony; classroom recording and learning management systems; and ticket desk analysis and workflows.
- ITIL or project management certification is desirable.
- Lead IT services, infrastructure, and support to ensure reliable delivery for staff and pupils across three sites.
- Develop the IT roadmap, standardise platforms and processes, and deliver projects from business case through implementation.
- Lead RFI/RFP exercises, evaluate suppliers, and oversee the transition to a shared MSP with clear service standards.
- Improve IT support and escalation processes and help establish a shared service desk.
- Manage and develop IT engineers across locations, setting priorities, workloads, and objectives.
- Oversee networks, servers, Windows and macOS devices, Microsoft 365, Intune/MDM, identity platforms, and classroom AV.
- Maintain IT security, data protection, and GDPR compliance.
- Manage IT budgets, suppliers, and contracts, working closely with senior education leaders.
- Remain actively involved in troubleshooting and technical delivery alongside the IT team and MSP.

We are a leading education organisation seeking an IT Manager for a permanent, on-site role in South-West London, with occasional travel to Central London. The role spans three London sites and supports approximately 400 staff and 2,000 pupils. It combines hands-on IT management, team leadership, technology strategy, and service improvement, with a focus on moving predominantly Microsoft environments toward a shared IT operating model.
