Senior / Lead Developer - Databricks Data Factory SQL

Salary: £65,000 - 65,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake and Databricks
• Proven ability to build efficient data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF), SSIS, and API integrations
• Proficiency in Power BI or similar reporting tools
• Demonstrated ability to work in multifunctional, fast-moving product teams
• Strong spoken and written English skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into clear technical tasks
• A proactive approach to mentoring less experienced developers and supporting collaborative pair programming
• Desirable: Experience with PySpark or PySQL
• Desirable: Experience with dimensional modelling and data warehousing principles
• Desirable: Experience with SQL Server SSAS Tabular and DAX
• Desirable: Exposure to SQL Server RDBMS and Managed Instance
• Desirable: Knowledge of Azure Event Hubs or Active Batch
• Desirable: Interest in applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to real-world data problems

Responsibilities:

• Use data, analytical, and reporting tools to develop new products, optimise existing solutions, and support users across the business
• Collaborate with stakeholders in areas including Finance, Product, Marketing, and Contact Centre to design, build, and support data solutions for operational and business analysis
• Use Azure tools, Databricks, and Power BI to innovate and streamline workflows and provide valuable data to the business
• Develop product-team solutions tailored to business requirements, including cost-saving efficiencies, cyber resilience, and data security controls
• Support data ingestion pathways and implement data compliance frameworks
• Optimise internal workflows to improve process efficiency and operational stability
• Provide guidance to less experienced developers and support pair programming

Our BIS domain works with stakeholders across key business areas to deliver critical data solutions. Our department has 80 developers, analysts, and product managers focused on value-driven delivery. Our traditional SQL platform remains central to the business while we scale our modern data architecture and explore AI and machine learning tools.
