Software Engineering or SRE, PhD Intern

Salary: £40,000 - 40,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require that you are currently enrolled in a PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field in the EMEA region, and in your penultimate or final year of education.
• We require experience with data structures and algorithms gained through coursework, projects, research, internships, or practical experience in school or work.
• We require experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, or Go.
• We require that you can complete a 13-17 week full-time internship in the UK starting in either May, June, or July 2027.
• We require relevant practical or internship experience with programming in C++, Java, Python, or Go.
• We require research experience in areas such as algorithms, architecture, artificial intelligence, compilers, databases, data mining, distributed systems, machine learning, networking, or systems.
• We require relevant practical or internship experience in areas such as web application development, Unix/Linux, mobile application development, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, NLP, networking, developing large software systems, or security software development.
• We require that you are located in the UK for the duration of the internship program.
• We require that you are not seeking immigration sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities:

• We research, conceive, and develop software applications to extend and improve our product offering.
• We contribute to a wide variety of projects using natural language processing, artificial intelligence, data compression, machine learning, and search technologies.
• We collaborate on scalability issues involving access to data and information.
• We utilize exposure to large-scale production software troubleshooting.
• We help maintain mission-critical services.
• We work on software engineering or site reliability projects depending on where we determine you fit best based on your resume.
