Software Engineer II
Job Description
Salary: £68,000 - 108,000 per year
Requirements:- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- At least 1 year of professional software development experience and proficiency in one or more programming languages
- Passion for learning new technologies and automating repetitive work
- Working knowledge of containers and Kubernetes, gained through professional, academic, or personal projects
- Presence on GitHub or a similar platform
- Comfortable working in Unix/Linux environments
- Motivated, curious, self-driven, and eager to learn quickly with guidance from senior team members
- Experience with software development and build automation processes, such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
- Hands-on experience with Golang or Python, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with cloud deployment tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, ARM Templates, or GCP Cloud Deployment Manager
- Experience or interest in open-source contributions and working with teams distributed across time zones
- Design, implement, test, and ship well-defined features integrating Couchbase with cloud-native technologies, including Prometheus, Fluentd, Fluent Bit, and the Kubernetes Pod Autoscaler
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code; participate in code reviews; communicate progress, risks, and dependencies; and partner with Quality Engineering on test coverage
- Contribute documentation, examples, and tutorials for integrations with cloud-native components such as Fluentd, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry
- Help Sales Engineering, Professional Services, and Support investigate and resolve customer issues related to owned features
- Participate in team processes, including sprint planning, estimation, CI/CD, and on-call or bug-triage rotations, and suggest improvements
- Work with Product Managers, Architects, and senior engineers to understand requirements and refine feature designs
- Collaborate with engineers across teams on dependent features and share learnings about the cloud-native ecosystem
