Senior Rust Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £100,000 - 145,000 per year
Requirements:- Strong professional experience writing production Rust, including idiomatic design, concurrency, and performance characteristics
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to engineers, customers, and stakeholders
- Curiosity about the business and ecosystem our systems serve
- Experience working directly with end-users to diagnose issues, propose solutions, and build trust
- Passion for championing great technology
- Hands-on experience designing distributed microservice or event-driven architectures
- Track record of writing well-tested, scalable Rust code using concurrency patterns, unit and integration testing, containerisation, and CNCF ecosystem tools
- Experience with a cloud platform such as GCP, AWS, or equivalent
- Develop and maintain high-performance DTN products, platforms, and APIs, predominantly in Rust, using gRPC and Protocol Buffers
- Architect and scale distributed, cloud-native systems running on Kubernetes
- Own code from design through production, including implementation, debugging, testing, and optimisation
- Modernise and evolve existing capabilities using cutting-edge approaches
- Collaborate across full-stack teams to pair robust backend logic with seamless user experiences
- Translate technical and commercial needs into elegant, maintainable Rust solutions
- Create documentation, tutorials, and sample code for developers and customers using The Relay Network
- Support customer onboarding by guiding integration and ensuring systems perform at scale
